"Synesthesia" is a mixed media portrait series exploring identity through a simulation of synesthesia; Each image was an hours long process that began with an in depth, free form conversation with each subject on their personhood, which I then translated by feeling into colors painted on the model's face. In the editing process too, every choice made was to visually reflect my perception and understanding of each subject's identity.
